May 15th - Day 2 Habit Project

Keep working toward the ultimate goal of ridding yourself of a bad habit.  As I have said before this is very hard to do and support each other in their challenge.

  1. Day 2 went even better than yesterday. When I came from school, I had a banana, instead of all the junk food that was in my kitchen. After this, I ran even longer than I did yesterday. Also, I did it in a much faster time range. Yesterday, I ran a little shorter than a mile, in about an hour. -this is because I watched a baseball game in this time range. Today, I ran a little longer than a mile, and I ran it in about 20 min. -I took a short break in between. I already feel better about myself, and I decided that I am going to run longer and longer each day.

  2. Good for you Matt, keep it up. See what you can get to and challenge yourself. I run all the time to and always try to beat my previous times. It is not easy but worth it in the long run. I time myself by listening to music and then counting how long the songs where I listened to!

  3. A little angry at myself for buying a soda and candy after school. I debated with myself as I walked into the market, but my hunger and temptation got the best of me. Changing my schedule's achievement section from "walk home from school" to "buy candy and a soda."

    1. Dev anyway you can take a different route home and not walk by the market. Or don't have money on you then you cant buy anything.

    2. Well my bus gets off right at the market exactly, and I've found myself in some situations where I have needed money but didn't have any at that time.

  4. My second day went well. I treated studying as homework, as I wanted to do. Also, last night I studied for my Latin test for a half an hour and I feel like i did pretty well on it. My larosse practice was canceled tonight so i will have to change up my schedule a lot...

  5. Sorry Mr. Phillips for the lower case I's. I am used to them being changed automatically.

  6. Day two of the habit project was a success. This morning I turned off my alarm at 6:30 am and took a shower instead of going back to sleep. As a result of not dosing for a half hour I feel like i slept better. I also felt like I wasnt cramming to get stuff done in the morning. I originally wanted to eat immediately after waking up, but I'm going to change it to taking a shower. This helps me to wake up and not be tempted to go back to sleep.

  7. My second day of the habit project was a success. I came home and ate a whole thing of cantaloupe and then went for a one mile run. After that I came home and I did my homework. I learned today that filling up your time of the bad habit it makes it easier to forget about your habit and focus on being healthy and not eating junk all the time. I am feeling good now and before I would eat junk food and never get full then when I eat fruit it feels me up. Cant wait until tomorrow.

  9. Today went a little worse than yesterday due to the weather outside. But I still came through ny staying away from my kitchen entirely since I've been home. So far so good

  10. Today was okay. It took me forty minutes just to straighten my hair this morning. I feel like that is just way too long to be spending on my hair, but it did straighten pretty good this morning; it was was actually straight and not frizzy. It took me the average time for me to do my make up this morning, about fifteen minutes. I was hoping on working out, but it is raining and I can't go for a run. Plus, now I'm babysitting Brody, my brother, so I can't really leave him alone, so watching TV with him it is. I would let him exercise with me, but it is his bed time and if he has too much activity and excitement before bed, he takes forever to fall asleep. See everyone tomorrow!(:

    1. Mad die you have to find alternative solutions to work out. Excuses are easy so try doing situps while your watching tv or jumping jacks or pushups or running in place. As for your hair I don't have as many suggestions hahaha. Try not to stress so much about make up and hair. Don't do it everyday then you an occasion comes that calls for it it may be more fun.

    2. I never really thought of that before! Thank you Mr. Phillips! I will defiantly start doing that!(:

  11. Good work everyone! Let me know if you need suggestions. I am about to embark on an hour and a half p90x yoga session. Not gonna be fun but I have to increase my flexibility. Unfortunately I neglected it my whole sporting life and my lower back hip and hamstring injury needs something then the constant pounding from insanity and running. Wish me luck and I'll check in in an hour and a half.

    2. Not great but I managed yoga and realized how out of shape I am compared to a few months ago. It goes so quick if you get lazy. The yoga may be a piece of the solution though we will see. Thanks for asking!

    3. Big Puma, you could always lightly stretch whatever it is when you have the chance. Just kind of walk around your classroom for a little bit to get everything moving, it'll actually help it heal...you probably knew that though...

  12. Today has been good. Today is one of the only days of the week I have off from sports (between practices and games). I was hoping I could challenge myself with some shooting drills outside, but that didn't turn out to happen because of the weather. I feel like exercising helps my confidence a lot, and I have come to realize it is a great way to build it up. I am feeling really good about this project, because I am willing to work for confidence in myself, and I'm ready for a change. Does anyone have any ideas of shooting drills I can do indoors? I was really looking forward to shooting some hoops today! :( Anyways, I haven't been getting down on myself as often as I usually would. Today has been great! See you all tomorrow!(:

  14. Today was a little bit harder than yesterday because of the weather. Instead of being able to go outside I had to find something else to do. I ended up reading for a few hours. I am not a big reader and don't really like to but I found a book that I like and it went well. I like that now I have more than one thing to do instead of using electronics.

  15. Today was a lot better. I was able to get home and do my homework right away. I think this was mainly because it was a raining out and I wasn't tempted to go outside and play. However I did get distracted halfway through because my brother started watching TV and I was on the computer typing my religion homework. I ended up watching TV for a half an hour and I luckily caught myself before the next show started. Mr. Phillips, do you have any suggestions to help me deal with this?

    1. Start with 10 pushups 100 situps and 50 squats and see where you can get to. You could also try something new like cooking dinner, laundry, or something else creative. Try new things see if you enjoy them. The Internet is always there for idea, or recipes, or how to's! I use it all the time for them!

  16. Day two was a good day for my habit. I had a slight disagreement with my brother in the car but other than that it went well. Sometimes when my mom or dad forgets to tell me when I have to go to after school I get aggravated and argue with my parent more throughout the day. Today my mom forgot to tell me and I didn't argue with her or my dad at all. I also was happy because I mainly got to follow my schedule today better than yesterday, seeing I spent the majority of my after school time yesterday in the hospital. Today I did everything on my schedule besides play basketball (seeing it rained) and exercise because I spent about a hour cleaning my room when I got home. I hope tomorrow will be even better! good luck to everyone else!

  17. Day 1 (i wrote this out, but i want it to e on the blog too)
Day 1 went awesome. It was a success. My sister had a softball game, and i went. It was at AHS ( auburn high school) and they won. I didnt run aound the facilities, but I was able to go to a shooting clinic, which was a little more then a mile on ice total, so I got what i wanted. I also did the arm work out, but shooting the oucks.

Day 2 didn't go as I wanted, I jus wanted to work out today, no pushups or crunches, but I wasn't able to run 2 miles, or shoot 300 pucks. I didn't have clinic or anything I wasable to do 50 push-ups and 50 crunches, but i know it isn't really that much. I hope i can pull this out, and be able to do 30 pullups, and 100 pushups and crunches a day after this. I know 50 and 50 isn't a lot ( no need for people to tell me) but is there any other idseas, that people have? Any tip is a good tip, wether i use it or not.

  19. My day went better than I thought. I figured when I got home i wouldn't do anything hence the weather. When I went to my mothers house, I went downstairs to my grandmother's apartment, and went on the eliptical for half an hour. I feel more flexible and my muscles aren't as tight. I'm glad I got some time to excercise today. I feel as if I accomplished my goal for the day.

  20. Today went well for my habit project.I was able to do my homework because i stayed home all day because had no practice and the weather wasn't good. I watched some tv but then i realized watching tv or playing video games wasn't that fun so i did my homework. Now i don't need to get up extra early to do my homework.

  21. Today I was happy with my self I came home, did my homework, then my brother wanted to play catch with the foot ball. After that we went out back and made a obstacle course. we had to climb the ladder slide down the slide, run across the deck come back over to the swings, swing 3 times jump off, and do a flip. My time was 34 seconds, my brothers was 52 seconds. I would call this a good day. I hoping tomorrow is even better.
